ARC Mini Review: Knight's Obsession (Sanctuary Falls #2)

Knight's Obsession (Sanctuary Falls #2)

Katie Reus

Blurb:

Someone killed her friend…

Clover is convinced that a low-life criminal killed her friend—and she refuses to let it go. Even if that means walking into a nest of vipers. She knows how to wear a mask. She’s been doing it most of her life. So she gets a job at the man’s bar to study his operation and find out what happened to her friend. To her never-ending annoyance, she’s forced to turn to the irresistible hacker who tempts her on every level—even if she can never have him.

And she’s going to bring them to justice…

Micah Knight isn’t sure when it happened, but he’s fallen hard for the innocent-looking Clover who’s anything but. Unfortunately she won’t listen to reason, won’t let him just do his job and investigate the man she thinks killed her friend. Making things even more complicated, the suspect is an informant for the Feds, so they have to tread carefully. But it turns out the truth is far bigger and more dangerous than either of them could have imagined. And it’s going to take everything they have to survive the coming storm.

Review:

I love a good romance that develops and carries over from one story to another.  We first met Clover and Micah when their siblings found love in the first in the new series by Katie Reus and I knew I just had to have their book.  When we finally get to read their story, we know immediately that their path to love will not be a simple one. Nothing beats a good murder mystery but there were so many twists and turns in this one that I almost lost track of everything going on more than once. The skill it takes for an author to not only come up with a plot this in depth and complicated but lead readers through the maze and ultimately to the end, without losing us and still give us a believable romance along the way is nothing to sneeze at. I am thrilled I was able to enjoy this story before it was released and get to experience Knight’s Obsession before the masses. Clover was an intense and stubborn character, with a determination to do what she felt was right, even if it put her in danger, and she was unwilling to give up on her friend that she knew was in trouble. I liked getting to know her more and seeing her find her footing as she investigated alongside Micah and they dug into mystery after mystery until they found the full truth of everything, they’d gotten themselves into.  Micah was an awesome character with depths that were impossible to reach until he finally allowed Clover to know him fully and he opened himself up.  He has hidden parts of his past for a long time, but he knows that Clover is the woman for him, and he is unwilling to lose her, whether to danger, her own stubbornness, or his closed heart.  There were so many great side characters, and I am looking forward to finding out which sibling gets their story next and seeing more of this crazy family and their friends.  Katie Reus is one of those authors that can amaze us with supernatural beings, thrill use with dangerous spies, or confuse us with deadly escapades, but she never fails to show us the most basic need of any life remains love and the pursuit of finding it for ourselves. Bring more Knights on, Katie!
