Review:
So while many are used to seeing reviews here
that talk about all the heat and passion that are found in romance novels,
this sweet and loving holiday Epilogue to a series which certainly followed
that typical pattern was none of those things—but I didn’t miss it at all. This
long-running series has led to six loving relationships, including the
parents of the lead heroine in this story, and we get to see all them coming
together in a family semi-crisis as the two ladies that have pulled them
together for years are at loose ends. Pru is dealing with a lot as her family
comes together as not only Christmas but her parents’ wedding fast approaches,
and she is feeling a little bit lost in her role in the family. When she finally shares those feelings with
her favorite lady in the family, her great-grandmother, family matriarch Finola
“Finnie” Kilcannon, Finnie shares that she is having her own holiday
doldrums. Together they decide that a
challenge for them both is what is needed to get them back in the holiday
spirit. While Finnie and Pru take their
long overdue adventure Finnie shares with her great-granddaughter –and the
reader—the story of how the Kilcannon clan began with the love she shared for
so many years with her Seamus. When things quickly go awry however, Finnie and
Pru must come together, along with their family, a new friend, and an amazing
new dog the meet along the way to bring them safely back into bosom of their
loving family. This story is full of the
love, sweetness, and family togetherness that embodies the spirit of the
holidays, no matter what name you give them this time of year. I loved the little bits of drama, danger, and
love that we got to see and of course getting to see both Pru and Finnie find
that missing spark was the best way to get back that Holiday cheer. I am sad to see this series end, but am
looking forward to the spinoff we can expect based on the cousins of the
Kilcannon clan and getting to see these couples and their amazing family again
through those tales. Roxanne as always
amazes me with her abilities to pull heartstrings, bring tears to my eyes, and
still make me laugh and the most inappropriate moments (note to readers—do not
try to sneak in reading this during a business meeting). Another holiday masterpiece!
