Review:
While
I freely admit that I was not able to immediately pinpoint Nichol’s previous
appearance in and connections to this series, I enjoyed the story from the
beginning. There were lots of twists and
turns, plenty of amazing characters, and some very sexy moments along the way
to keep this story from being boring.
Julia London has a way with all her writing that allows the reader to be
sucked in to the story, and I enjoyed this story, though not nearly as much I did
others in the series. A woman finally
finding her voice in a world ruled by men and a man finally coming to
understand that the love of good woman can change a man’s life forever—what could
make for a better match? I have really enjoyed this series and watching it
developed, as each of the couples came together and found love, sometimes in
the most unlikely of places. I am looking forward to whatever comes next,
either in this series or if it is over then in whatever series comes next.
Nichol
Bain is what we would now call a fixer—a man that spends his life saving the aristocracy
from themselves when they can pay him, but never settling down or keeping
anything for himself. His newest
assignment should have been an easy one, with a quick and simple solution,
except for one little problem—Maura Darby.
The first woman to truly stir his passion and pull him from his shell,
but he can’t keep her for himself when his entire reputation depends on him
foisting her into a marriage she doesn’t want.
Maura is tired of being pushed into one or another unwanted and untenable
situation where she has no say in her life, and she is determined to take back
control of her life, starting with her passions of you very sexy man that is
slowly worming his way into her heart.
In the end are they too different to make a life together or can they
find a compromise that will allow the both to get everything they ever needed
from their life?
I
loved getting to know Maura and have no doubt that had I met her in person I would
have made her a best friend immediately.
Once she decided that she was done being timid and hiding in the
shadows, her bravery and mischievousness made her a perfect foil for Nichol’s
steady and serious nature. Her ability
to think on her feet and willingness to do whatever it takes in times of fear
or danger show her to be a truly intrepid heroine. It was amazing to see her coming out of her
shell, determining that she will stand
up for herself even against Nichol, and find a way to get herself out from
under the thumb of those that have always keep her light from shining
through. Nichol spent the majority of
the story exasperated and confused as Maura ties him into notes again and
again. Nichol was also dealing with very
intense feelings from his past and having to come to terms with some hard
truths about himself, but I think in doing so it made it easier for him to
trust in his feelings for Maura. In the
end Nichol broke my heart again and again, watching him fall in love and find himself
almost as much as Maura was, making this truly a story of self-discovery for
two perfectly matched individuals that were badly in need of one another.
Seduced by a Scot
is an amazing story, though I honestly cannot place which of the characters was
truly the one seducing the other, but I was definitely seduced by the story
itself and will enjoy reading more than once. Maura and Nichol were interesting characters
on a fun adventure together with twists and turns that led them right into one
another’s arms and I loved experiencing it along with them. Nichol is a sexy
Scot with a penchant for solving problems for those that should know better
than to get themselves into them in the first place; he is sensual and also has
an amazing ability to keep a woman on her toes and steal her heart. Maura is a sweet girl who finally decides
that enjoying her life and taking control of it is more important than keeping
those around her happy. Once she decides
to stop hiding herself, Maura becomes a fitting counterpart for Nichol Bain and
together they can overcome anything in their path. The passion between them, even when they are
arguing, is palpable and enough to make readers wonder is Nichol will be able
to resist the innocent Maura. I also loved the epilogue to this story, where previous
characters were brought back and we get to see how everything is all connected
in the later years for Nichol and Maura.
If this is the end of the series I will be sad to see it end, but I know
that something new will be coming to keep me interested and thrilled in the
future as Julia London is amazing and I am a huge fan. I cannot wait for
whatever comes next either way, Julia!
