Review:
I am not much of a fan of reading serial versions of my novels, but I couldn’t pass up this chance to read the first portion of Tristan’s story as soon as possible. I have been reading books by Donna Gant for a long time now and seeing Tristan, then Duncan, die in a previous novel about broke my heart.  So when we discovered he had returned in his new guise as Tristan, a sexy, strong immortal Dragon King, I jumped at the chance to see him fall in love.  Getting this chance to read his novel and watch him fall was wonderful, but I was dying until I was able to finally read the next three parts of the serial and find out the whole story.

Part 1 of Fire Rising takes us from Sammi’s bar which has just been destroyed to her arrival at Dreagan, where her half-sister Jane finds her gravely injured and in need of help.  When Tristan first sees her he is enraptured and unable to let her leave without their help.  They soon discover that Sammi is being used to draw them out and that their shared enemies are darker and scarier than ever imagined. The section ends with Tristan standing guard over Sammi who is once again on the run from enemies and determined to make her way on her own.

I liked Sammi a lot even though she is very stubborn.  Sammi seems to be a strong character but one that is closed off and unwilling to trust anyone with her safety or her heart. Hopefully with Tristan’s help she can overcome her fears.  Tristan on the other hand is fighting with Sammi because he does not want to betray his friends and he doesn't understand the unique connection they have. Hopefully in the coming chapters we will see more development of a friendship and ultimately a relationship between Tristan and Sammi.  It is obvious that there will be serious flames  between this couple as they come together and I am looking forward to what comes next in the story.  I am dying to find out who their enemies are and seriously see them get their asses kicked by the Dragon Kings.
